Both from afar and up close, the image is bold. This is because of the warm colors emerging from a black background. The sense of depth is wonderful, as the shapes lead your eye around the picture plane - sort of in the ideal "8 figure" loop. What I find the most interesting though is the negative space that seems to stare at you as you stare at it. This may be partially because it is a near-full ellipse, but also because the bowl itself mimics the human eye's shape. Overall, with the texture, color, and composition, a very well-executed piece!
really diggin the wood grain in this one Graham... I think first... "man those would sell if they were real"... looks maybe inspired by one your old museum pieces..
